Blue Plankton

April 4th, 2012 – Blue bioluminescent plankton at a beach in Mancora, Peru. At the location where the wave breaks hardest the white rough foam at the edge becomes a deep bright blue.  As the breaking wave grows the blue spreads, albeit dampening as it gets further away. Breaking waves that are far away to the right seem to be brighter or maybe the waves seem bluer because the darkness of the background is so uniform over there?  Apart from clouds, the only thing visible in the sky is a faint moon behind a cloud.

One
A powerful slap

Awakens

Roars and blows

Blue spit

Gradual
Calm

Two
From a great distance

A blue tube

Growing sideways in both directions from
A blue sphere

At a constant rate

Three
I shine when my neighbors shine

My neighbors shine when a few of their neighbors shine

Those neighbors shine when their world tremors

Their world tremors when the moon insists
